Bernhardsthal is an ideal starting point for cycling tours through the gently rolling landscape of the Weinviertel tri-border area.

Just a short 2-minute walk away you will find the largest pond in the Weinviertel, with 25 hectares of water area perfect for hiking and pedal boating. A unique feature of this pond is its division by the railway brick bridge of the Kaiser Ferdinand Northern Railway, dating back to 1839, the oldest preserved railway structure in Austria.

With 13,000 hectares, the Weinviertel is Austria's largest wine-growing region, known for its wine cycle paths and cellar lanes. The region's Grüner Veltliner is famous well beyond Austria's borders.

Bernhardsthal, located in the eastern part of the Weinviertel, lies above the beautiful Leiser Mountains and borders the neighboring countries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The eastern part of the region includes the gently rolling land around Laa, with the only thermal spa in the entire Weinviertel. The convergence of different cultures offers unique experiences in wine, culture, and nature. The Leiser Mountains, with Buschberg as the highest elevation in the Weinviertel, are part of the eastern wine region. It's an ideal place for hiking and mountain biking.

The March-Thaya floodplains are also scenically appealing, considered one of the most beautiful and interesting floodplain landscapes in Central Europe. The March and Thaya rivers are best explored by canoe or kayak.

This area is a significant part of the Weinstraße Weinviertel Veltlinerland, offering a unique wine experience. Large portions of this region make up the Veltlinerland wine route, a testament to the area's rich viticultural heritage.
